Gala dinner at Groote Schuur
For the last hundred years, Groote Schuur has been part of the country’s constitutional development and the background against which important political events have unfolded. In 1990, Groote Schuur was redecorated by the Department of Public Works and reverted to its function of housing the State’s highest executive officer, of the then State President, Mr FW de Klerk. Since then, this has become one of the most exclusive and unique venues in the Cape. The general public have no access to Groote Schuur, which is still owned by the Government of South Africa and remains an official presidential residence, consequently requiring strict passport and security procedures for entry.
